As the most spectacular SF film series next to "MazingerZ", this "Great Mazinger" series is catching on because of its smart style and powerful drama. Tetsuya, an orphan, takes Koji's place and boards the "Great Mazinger'' and flies about freely with a fair command of more highly powered arms to destroy General Dark and his army of fighter beasts for the cause of World Peace. His friends Venus Ace, Boss Borot appear alternately to help "Great Mazinger" but-full of ideas and resources though they become a drag on Tetsuya at times.
